We
have completed the design of Rufus v2.0, the first revision to expand on
the class project put together by myself and Robert Burke for "Techniques
for Interactive Characters" in Fall '99. Rufus, is the group's first
expansion into the realm of controlling physically based creatures (vs pixels)
with its behavior and motor architecture. This new version of Rufus adds
real-world sensing to include vision, audition, and other sensory inputs
that will then be fed back into the Synthetic Characters behavior system
for feedback and control. Rufus will also be given added expressiveness
by expanding his facial expressions from 6 degrees of freedom, to approximately
16. |
